!!DSC_3314 ed smallNamed “25 To Watch” by DANCE Magazine, Robert Dekkers is founding artistic director of Post:Ballet and resident choreographer of Diablo Ballet. Recent collaborations include Tassel (composer Anna Meredith and musical ensemble The Living Earth Shw), ourevolution (illustrator Enrique Quintero and animator Yas Opisso), Colouring (photographer Natalia Perez and composer Daniel Berkman) and Through the Glass (cinematographer Amir Jaffer). Dekkers’ collaboration with architect Robby Gilson, field the present shifts, was nominated for an Isadora Duncan Award for “Outstanding Performance- Ensemble,” and Robert’s creation with composer Daniel Berkman, Mine is Yours, premiered at the SF International Arts Festival. Most recently, Post:Ballet was nominated for two Isadora Duncan Awards for its 2015 season presentations of Dekkers’ Sixes and Seven and Yours is Mine.

Commissions include Atlanta Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, San Jose Dance Company, Novaballet, Smuin Ballet, and Quixotic. His work has been showcased at Jacob’s Pillow’s Inside/Out Festival (Beckett, MA), Tanzsommer Festival (Vienna), Ballet Builders Showcase (NYC), Against the Grain (Seattle), and West Wave Festival (SF).

Robert danced with Ballet Arizona, ODC/Dance, Company C, and Diablo Ballet, where he was nominated for an Isadora Duncan Award for “Outstanding Performance- Individual” in 2014. He has performed leading roles in works by choreographers including Balanchine, Límon, Tharp, Lubovitch, Caniparoli, and McIntyre.
